“Just thinking of you.” Poem

August 31, 2011

So it’s not a word-eating monster one this time. Variety is the spice of life?  This one’s meaning kind of bounces all over the place, with several different readings possible (that I can see at least).  What do you think it’s about?

Just thinking of you

I’ll paint you

in a place

drenched in sunshine

with sky so blue,

that sapphires weep

with sand enough

to tell a story

and so much heat.

I’ll sketch out shade

created by cloth

and blankets to protect

the goer

I’ll charcoal in sunglasses

and white goop against skin

(the smell of it:

tang against lips

and tingle of sunkiss)

I’ll crush together colors

for the frigidness of fractals

in oxygenated ice

the froth of the wind

the amorphous of relief

in the sloshes of marine

the world can be so cold.

But then it’s time

to crack open books

(take us away)
